What are SMARTER Goals?

If you want better results for your life than those you presently have, I urge you to pick up a pen, grab paper, and jot down the goals you want to reach. Examine each goal.   Make any changes necessary to ensure it meets the criteria for  SMARTER goals:

SPECIFIC

Reachable goals are specific. Write down the numbers, money earned, weight lost, percentage gained.  Answer the six "W" questions:

  1. Who
  2. What
  3. Where
  4. When
  5. Which
  6. Why

MEASURABLE

You must know when you have achieved your goal. Set a measurable goal and then track your progress toward it.  Ask questions such as:  How much? How many? How will I know when it is accomplished?

ACTIONABLE

Be certain your goal is doable, not just a pipe dream. You must be accountable for achieving your goal.

RELEVANT

Your goal must be aligned with your values and your ultimate intention. Design your goals to strategically impact as many areas of your life as possible.

TIMELY

Set a specific completion time and include it in your goal.

EXTENDING

What fun is life if we do not stretch a little?  Your goal must ask you to stretch enough to create enthusiasm and make you want to act to achieve it.

REWARDING

All goals must be in line with your values and intention. Align your goal with your passion and make it happen!

OTHER FACTORS:

  • Keep your goal simple.
  • Keep your goals clear, simple and focused
  • Write your goals down and track your progress
  • Share your goals with others. Find a support team, buddy or a coach to encourage you ever step of the way.
  • Work with other winners.

Will you achieve your goals in 2010?   There is a world of difference between goal setting and goal achieving.

~ Goal setting is largely an intellectual process of determining the direction of your goals. It involves using your mental faculties to create a picture on the screen of your mind.

~ Goal achieving is the process of getting emotionally involved in that idea and moving in the direction of that picture through your actions.

Bob Proctor has simplified both of theses processes into strategies that will ensure the achievement of your goals in 2010.  Click here to register in February's Goal Achiever Coaching Group.
