I want to share an important fact with you regarding achieving your goals and dreams: There is not a secret to success! A secret is something that is not commonly known.
If that were true, then it would mean success is only possible for a few people who have access to the great mysterious secrets of success. Now that is pure nonsense! People believe that there are hidden secrets that will make them successful. Now there facts, lessons, insights and actions we can take to go where we want to be; however, they are not hidden. They are not dancing in front of you as you walk through life either. You have to desire to know them. You have to search for them. You have to take action once you know them.
Do you ever wonder what your life will be like one year, five years, or 10 years from today? Of course we all do Your life will be whatever you decide to make it. You have a choice to make. Let me clue you into another secret of life:
Where you are in your life today is a direct consequence of every decision you have ever made.
Ouch. That truth was tough on me when I had to face it. I did not like some of the things that I saw; however, I felt good about some other things. I have discovered it is best to face the reality of where you are starting from before you begin a journey. It is the only way you can know how far you have to go, or how far you have come.
Take some time to think about these two secrets. You may discover the same kind of freedom I did. While it was tough to accept, I am ultimately responsible for whatever the condition of my life is right now. There is also incredible freedom in knowing that I have the power to make it anything I want it to be.
Do you ever tire of people complaining about their lives? Complaining that they cannot do certain things because they are just not smart enough. Complaining they will never excel in anything because they just do not have the talent others do. Complaining they will never make much money because no one else they know does. I hear it all the time. People selling themselves short because they simply do not believe life will be exciting for them or that their dreams will ever come true. As long as they believe that – it will be true for them.
Do you understand that? This is another so-called secret of life. If they believe it, it will be true for them. I did not say it was true. I simply said it was true for them because they have decided to believe it. That MAKES it true for them. Too bad! Especially because the opposite is equally true. If you choose to believe in your ability to succeed, to make your dreams come true, then you will. Your decision to believe it makes it TRUE FOR YOU!
To avoid confusion, I must mention one truth that is often referred to as a secret. In the Strangest Secret, Earl Nightingale said,
The strangest secret is that we become what we think about most of the time.
And, of course, Jesus Christ said,
As you believe, so shall it be done unto you.
Today is a day you can use to change your life. Change the way you think about things. Decide to believe your entire life is going to be an exciting adventure. Decide to believe you will be a success. Decide to believe today is going to be better than yesterday.
Decide and it will be TRUE FOR YOU!

Further, believe that it is true. Work, take action and you will achieve it.
Great insight. Thank you for sharing Rachel. I guess the key is to think and believe. The mind can overcome all the obstacles only if you think that this is true. No more competition but harmonious thoughts and happiness.

Hi Elwyn,
Most of us have heard that we create our own reality; however, I don’t think most understand exactly how we create it. As you are aware, we create it with our beliefs. If I don’t like my reality, I can work on changing my beliefs.
Thanks for sharing!
I guess you could say that I finally had to come to the realization that I am where I am because of my choices. It took a long time coming but once I finally learned that many years ago, I accepted the fact that everything I do will eventually bring me to where I intend to be. Once I "got it" I started to understand how all of this comes into play."
I was speaking with a friend just yesterday and he was telling me about some MLM company that was trying to convince him to join because they had all the "secrets" no one else knew. You can imagine my reaction when I told him that was a bunch of hog wash. We all have the secrets within us, we just have to learn how to draw them out and act on them.
Thanks for sharing this with us today Rachel. I love this topic and am one that I never get tired of reading about.
Adrienne
Hi Adrienne,
It seems there are bunches of people who do not take responsibility of their life. I, too, had a difficult time at first accepting that the choices that I made caused the results that I am experiencing in my life. Believe it or not, it was depressing initially. Now I realize how powerful that makes us all.
The quality of one’s life will be consistent with the choices one makes from
this point forward.
Thanks for visiting my blog and sharing your thoughts. I hope that you pop by often
I keep having to come back to this very point myself. I have been challenged with this very concept that I am where I am because of the choices I have made. For me, the biggest struggle is making different decisions today than I did yesterday so that my path tomorrow will be different than the one I am on today.
I realize that in some respects, I am further along on this myself. In a recent conversation with a friend, we were discussing an individual whose choices in the past have put this person in a position where society does not want to give him a chance. He has a desire to make changes. And yet, in part because of society, and in part because of his own current choices, this individual seems to be heading back down a path that he doesn't want to go.
Sometimes, making these changes involves associating with a different crowd. Find people who are where you want to go, or are moving in that direction, and associate with them. Leave behind those who want to keep you where you are.
And whenever you are in the moment where you must make a new decision, think about where that decision will take you. Will it take you on the path you want to go, or will it lead you further away.
Great post! Look forward to seeing more great posts.
Hi Grady. Thanks for commenting.
We all need people in our lives who push us to be all that we truly are. Our success is strongly influenced by the level of the other people we consistently spend time with. You are probably familiar with Andrew Carnegie’s quote:
Hopefully, your friend connects with people who will support his growth.
