We will never rise above the image that we have of ourselves in our own mind. If you have a negative and defeated self-image, begin to see yourself as coming out on top. See your business thriving. See your marriage restored. See your body healthy. You must first see it through eyes of faith. You were created to accomplish big things in life. You have incredible potential, gifts and talents within you that are waiting for you to step out in faith and act on your dreams and desires.
So how do we change the image that we have of ourselves? Here are five suggestions:
- Ask yourself what is troubling you. Identify the things that make you feel poorly.
- Be conscious of your beliefs and thoughts. What are you telling yourself? Is what you are telling yourself the truth or just what you believe? (It does not matter if it is the truth–it's all about what you believe).
- Point out your negative thoughts and beliefs. These can trigger undesireable responses such as sleeplessness, body stiffness, overeating, avoidance, etc.
- Think of other ways to view a situation. Challenge your negative thoughts and beliefs. Your emotions, behavior, perception of yourself all comes from your mind–specifically your thoughts. What have you been thinking about lately? What do those thoughts say about you? About your life? How well do those thoughts really match up with your plans for your life and your image of yourself? I like the following quote by Martina Navratilova: "Disability is a matter of perception. If you can do just one thing well, you're needed by someone." Remember the Law of Polarity which states that everything has an opposite: Hot/Cold, Up/Down, Good/ Bad. The opposite side of anything is always equal and opposite. There is a positive and a negative to everything.
- Change your thoughts and beliefs to ones that serve you. Think on those things and traits that you DO want in your life. Since our mind communicates with our body using images, create visual images of what you want to become. Add the following affirmations to your daily routine:
- People love me and accept me for who I am.
- I have a magnetic and dynamic personality.
- My personality is radiant with confidence, certainty and optimism.
Become a "can-do" person, develop a "well able to" attitude and see yourself as the champion you were created to be. You can begin to build a winner's image by clicking here.
